Ak Extreme is the biggest Snowboard- and Music festival held in Iceland. It’s held in a town up north called Akureyri (the capital of north). A famous place for its 10 minutes away Hlíðarfjall Resort ski mountain and the hospitality from the locals. But Akx starts with a “King Of The Hill” contest for everyone who ride a snowboard and is a crowd challenge from the top of Hlíðarfjall down to the Cabin. There is a slopestyle sessions in Hlíðarfjall ski resort for the younger riders and then two snowboard events downtown Akureyri: BURN Jib contest and the EIMSKIP Big Jump. The main event is the Bigjump Contest downtown on saturday night and it is shown Live on Icelandic TV channel and on the web. It is one scary ride down the runway to the jump. Containers from EIMSKIP are used to build the run and the jump and many say this is one hellofa scetchfest for snowboarders to attend. “Some riders have left without going down”. So you have live music downtown for three nights and massive events to watch in the cosiest place up north.
