The happy sailor is a family festival that grows each year and is by now a fixed event every year in Grindavik. It is held to honor the Icelandics sailor and his family. During the festival from 30th of May – 1st of June the town is split into 4 district, each assigned a color and decorated as such. The festival offers an intensive schedule that puts a great emhpasize on a family-friendly and the children’s schedule.
