Gæran is a music festival held 14^th -16^th of August 2014 in the northern part of Iceland, in the small town of Saudarkrokur. This is the fifth year that the festival will be held in the only woolskin tannery factory (Loðskinn) in Iceland. Gæran, which means lambskin rug, is very well described by the name and is very laid back, warm and friendly. The festival focuses on offering a wide variety of genres, from folk to rap and everything in between. Tickets can be bought through midi.is when the line up is ready or on site at the festival weekend.

The festival is a three-day event. It starts on Thursday the 14^th of August with a soloist night at Mælifell, the local bar. On Friday the 15^th and Saturday the 16^th of August large concerts are held in the main festival area. A lot of great bands have performed in the last years, a mix of local musicians and more renowned performers. In 2013 we had on our lineup amongst others: Jónas Sig, Úlfur Úlfur, XXX Rottweiler hundar, Valdimar, Tilbury and now internationally recognized The Vintage Caravan. In 2012 we had the pleasure of welcoming Eivør Palsdottir, from the Faroe Island, to the festival. Other performers on the festival in 2012 were for example: Eldar, Contalgen Funeral, Brother Grass and Dimma.

Saudarkrokur is a small town in the northern part of Iceland. Even tough it´s small it has everything you need: shopping, dining, activities, camping & other accommodation, a swimming pool, a lot of culture and friendly people. Getting there is no problem, buses run from the capital Reykjavík twice a day, times and prices can be found at bus.is. You have to be 18 or older to enter the festival area.
